Grant Levels and Reporting

Grant Funding Levels

The amount of funding available in any given year is set by the Entomological Foundation’s Board of Directors. The same scoring rubric is used for reviewing all applications. There are four levels for grant applications:

  • Micro-grants (Under $500)
  • Regular grants ($501-$999)
  • Large grants ($1,000-$2,500)
  • Exceptional grants (Over $2,500)

Application and Reporting Requirements

All grants must include the following to be considered. Applicants are encouraged to use the approved Entomological Foundation Grant Application and submit through our funding portal to ensure that all needed information is included. Elements required for all all grants include:

  • Grant application
  • Primary point of contact identified
  • Primary institution identified (e.g., Jane Doe Elementary School)
  • Project description
  • Age range identified

Micro-grant reporting requirements:

  • Summary report (1 page minimum)
  • At least one photograph of the finished project/product/activity/etc.

Regular grant reporting requirements:

  • Summary report (1 page minimum)
  • Lesson plan, set of instructions, or similar guiding document for future educators to use
  • At least three photographs of the finished project/product/activity/etc.

Large grant reporting requirements:

  • At least one project update report as progress for the project elapses
  • Lesson plan, set of instructions, or similar guiding document for future educators to use
  • Summary report (2 page minimum)
  • At least three photographs of the finished project/product/activity/etc.
  • Video of the project/product/activity/etc.
  • Impact statement from no fewer than three students

Exceptional grant reporting requirements:

  • At least one project update report as progress for the project elapses
  • Lesson plan, set of instructions, or similar guiding document for future educators to use
  • Summary report (3 page minimum)
  • At least five photographs of the finished project/product/activity/etc.
  • Video of the project/product/activity/etc.
  • Impact statement from no fewer than three students and/or parents
  • Evidence of social media promotion (e.g., Copies of Tweets, Facebook posts, etc)
